Twice a Refugee is an 11 minute day-in-the-life of a Syrian family resettling in Berlin, having escaped war-torn Syria.
Khaled Bakir and his family were born in a refugee camp. Berlin is their seventh “home”, and they want to stay. Unable to live in Palestine, Mr. Bakir lived as a political refugee in Syria, but forced to flee, he escaped with his family through five countries to a shelter in Berlin. He searches for a safe and permanent home for his family while a neighboring refugee shelter is burned down by Neo-Nazis protesting Germany’s increased immigration. Will Germany welcome him?
